EYFS & KS1 – GEOGRAPHY – Knowledge and Key Skills – September 2023

Implementation

In Year One, children develop geographical language to describe human and physical features of their immediate locality, their home, their school and the village of Great Lumley, through the use of fieldwork.  Children use maps, atlases and globes to identify, name and  locate the four counties of the United Kingdom as well as main towns and cities; Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland and London.  In Year Two, the curriculum is designed to allow children to use and apply their prior knowledge and skills to learn about the wider world, focussing on naming and locating the continents and world oceans on a map.
